After Koutsouras, continuing to Ierapetra, you could find a small settlement Achlia and a small bay with crystal clear blue waters. In this bay you form one of the most beautiful and windless beaches in the area. The name of the beach is not clear, some call it Achlia and others Galini.

Anyway, this is a large beautiful beach with coarse sand, umbrellas and several tamarisk trees that offer shade to visitors. Apart from this big beach there are other small beaches waiting to be discovered. In the area that is ideal for quiet family vacations there are cafes, taverns and mini market.

The largest beach in Makry Gialos is the homonymous beach, which was formerly known as “Hani”. Most people just call it a “big beach” because it is almost a kilometer long.
